3. Preparing Props and Filming

Students who elected to work on props spent time planning, designing,and painting while the singers rehearsed.

The directors began filming directly from the storyboard. Each time a given scene was complete they marked an 'X" next to it on the storyboard.
Swept Away had some special effects that needed "green screen". We were able to fake it with blue roll paper (as seen above),
but it was much better to use the green sheet I bought online as seen below for Get Smart.

It was very helpful to connect a TV monitor to the camera so that everyone could help frame the shots (on right taken during the making of
What a Cheap Trick). Students would take turns working the camera while others viewed the shot through the monitor. This kept everyone engaged.
